UdL received a state award for battery recycling. 150 kilos of batteries were collected in a year in the ETSEA and Cappont campuses

Premi per la UdL pel reciclatge de piles
The University of Lleida was awarded with the Battery Prize 2009, granted by the Spanish Association of Battery, Accumulator and Mobile Telephone Collectors (AERPAM). UdL has collected the greatest amount of this specially toxic and harmful waste as compared to all the other Spanish universities that include this service, taking into account the ratio of students and the period during which AERPAM containers were installed.

In just a year UdL collected 150 kilos of batteries by means of two big containers located in the Cappont and ETSEA campuses, aside from other smaller ones in the Rectorat and the Health Sciences campuses collected by the City Council.

The award ceremony of the Battery Prizes 2009 took place in Barcelona on the 28th May within the framework of the Eco-City Fair. Among other institutions awarded this year, there are the Town Councils of Lleida, La Garriga and Esplugues de Llobregat. This award aims at encouraging the selective collection of batteries at a state level.
