THE UdL LIBRARY

The Library and Documentation Service of tho UdL has libraries on the Education Sciences and Health Sciences campuses, the Rectorate Building and in the Upper Technical School of Agricultural Engineering (ETSEA), serviced by the Central Technical Unit. The users have access to the bibliographic information services and attention to the user, a reference service, on-line consultation of the computerised catalogue consultation of multidisciplinary and specialised data bases, lending/self-Iending, obtaining of documents, training of users and diffusion of Information. Moreover, the European Documentation Centre, located at ETSEA, offers the users access to European Union publications and their databases.

The Library and Documentation Service (Servei de Biblioteca i Documentació) has specialised libraries on every university campus with a ratio of 6 students per seat. Adding to that, the Higher Technical School of Agrarian Engineering houses a European Documentation Centre. Exchange students have access to the libraries and may borrow books by showing the certificate issued by the International Relations Office and a photograph. Apart from the libraries, there are study rooms on every campus.

The Library and Documentation Service is made up of the Central Technical Unit and the libraries on the campuses of Cappont, Educational Sciences, Health Sciences, the Arts, ETSEA and the Centre for European Documentation also on the ETSEA campus. All the libraries offer direct services (lending, bibliographic information, reproduction services, obtaining documents, etc.) and indirect services (electronic books, magazines, summaries and dossiers, databases, etc.). To use the lending service, you must have the UdL card. Each of them also has study rooms. These have a wide timetable, and are even open at night so that you can have a space for studying and working in teams. The timetable for attending the public in the libraries is from Monday to Friday, from 09:00 to 21:00, but in exam periods, all the libraries are open on Saturdays from 09:00 to 14:00. Moreover, the Arts Library opens at weekends all year except for certain specific dates that you can consult in the same library service.

The Web of the SBD supplies general information about the service and provides:

• Consultation of catalogues on-line
• Bibliographic novelties of the week.
• Electronic form for requesting documents.
