Applications to rent one of the 150 subsidized rental apartments for the university community may be made as of April through the website of the University of Lleida and the developer Factor Habast. The announcement was made today by a representative of the company, Rafael Florenciano, on a visit made by Rector Joan Viñas and other members of the UdL government to the site of this future facility.
The apartments, to be inaugurated in September, “will be a new opportunity to attract more students from outside Lleida to study at the UdL” said the rector, who was delighted by the progress of work and the quality of the facilities.
The building will have 150 apartments, 94 with a single bedroom, 44 with two bedrooms and 12 with a double bedroom, and they will range from 30 to 40 square metres in size. Of the total of 150, ten are reserved for persons with reduced mobility. Equipped with a stove, refrigerator and microwave oven, they will have a bathroom for each occupant, plus Internet connection. The architect of the project, George Fernandez, emphasized the good insulation and other energy-saving measures, such as the installation of photovoltaic panels and the reuse of grey water.
The apartments are located in the Ciutat Jardí expansion area
The construction of the apartments, which involves an investment of 9.5 million, will be completed in July, so they will be ready for occupation at the beginning of next academic year. In the coming weeks a committee formed by representatives of the UDL and Factor Habast will determine the criteria for awarding them and the rent, which will be between 200 and 300 euros.
In addition to cleaning and security servics, they will have common spaces: a 125-square-metre garden, rooms for study, reading and recreation, a laundry, a multipurpose room, and parking for vehicles and bicycles. The apartments are located in the Garden City expansion area, near the ETSEA and Health Sciences campuses.
