UdL tightens its bonds with California. David Gardner, President Emeritus of the University of California, visited ETSEA and gave a speech in the Rectorat building
Gardner was honoured by the Catalan Association of Public Universities (ACUP) on the 7th May in Barcelona. During the event, he spoke of the experience of the ten Californian universities, which gathered into a single autonomous body as regards economic, political and academic terms. The President Emeritus of the University of California mentioned that since 2008 there are two agreements between UdL and the University of California – Davis Campus, one of the world’s most prestigious institutions in the field of Agri-food.
Agreements to promote research and exchanges between both lecturers and students have allowed starting research projects on biologic control, food technology and entomology among others. Besides, they have made it possible that each year four ETSEA students can take Postgraduate and PhD courses at Davis, while four students from California can come to UdL to complete their training.
Gardner’s visit to Lleida was sponsored by the “Amics de Gaspar de Portolà” Association.
