13th International Medieval Meeting Lleida, organitzat pel Grup de Recerca d'Estudis Medievals Consolidats.
For four days, we will meet in Lleida to exchange research, information and news about our work on medieval studies. In particular, the 13 th International Medieval Meeting Lleida will focus on the strand “Collective Identities and group solidarities in the late Middle Ages”: In Middle Ages, humans were never alone. Men and women only had meaning within a collectivity, as a form of group solidarity and collective identity, whether it is the senatorial bond, the village, the town, the nation... Over the last few years, historiography has deepened our knowledge of collective identities and group solidarity. It is a good time to review the current state of research and to explore new ways in understanding collectives in the Middle Ages.
In addition, the 13 th International Medieval Meeting Lleida also hosts the strand “Revisiting the cathedral and its space. Liturgical sources and architecture” which will offer an excellent milieu where to open new ways in art history. Furthermore, the conference will provide the attendees and participants with a proper environment where one can share bibliographical news, presentations of research projects and papers in further 8 thematic strands: Art; Border, Wars and Crusades; Daily life; Institutions, Law and Government; Literature and Drama-Theatre; Philosophy, Theology and Thought; and Woman and Gender Studies. During the conference, we will also devote a homage to our colleague Martí Aurell, a close collaborator of
the research group, who recently passed away prematurely.
Finally, the 13 th International Medieval Meeting Lleida hosts a book fair and offers excursions to visit the medieval city and local products of the territory. The Consolidated Research Group in Medieval Studies “Space Power and Culture” of the University of Lleida wishes you a good conference.
