It is an honour to address the entire university community and society in general as President of the Board of Trustees of the University of Lleida.

The Board of Trustees is the body through which society participates in the governance and life of the university. Its function is essential: establish a link between the university and society. In this way, it contributes to connecting knowledge, research, and innovation with the social, economic, and cultural needs of the territory, but with a global perspective in mind.

As foreseen by the Spanish Law for the Regulation of the University System (Llei orgànica del sistema universitari, LOSU, fundamental law 2/2023, 22 March), the Board of Trustees also favours collaboration and accountability. This defining characteristic implies ensuring the responsible management of public resources and promoting a university that responds to current and future challenges, particularly for the training of the generations that will lead the progress of our society.

As President, and together with its other members, I take on this commitment with responsibility and as service oriented. We work to promote an open and excellent university committed to the development of the territory. We intend to pay special attention to the campuses distributed across Lleida’s regions, in Igualada and, most especially, in those areas with the highest risk of depopulation.
